Read-A-Thon 2023

It's Time for the Read-A-Thon!

The 2023 Indianola Informal Read-A-Thon is Feb. 20 through March 3! This annual PTO fundraiser promotes reading and raises money to support our school.

Here’s how it works:

Step #1: Set a goal

All Indy students are encouraged to participate by setting a goal for how many minutes they’ll read from Feb. 20 through March 3. We recommend at least 20 minutes per day. They can note their goal on the Pledge Sheet they’re taking home from school on Feb. 16. (This Pledge Sheet does not need to be returned.) 

Step #2: Make a pledge

Students may ask family and friends to sponsor their reading by minutes read or in one lump sum. Sponsors may make their tax-deductible donation online at or by a check made out to “Indianola Informal PTO – donation” and handed to the student’s teacher by March 6. 

Step #3: Log your reading

Students must log their minutes read from Feb. 20 through March 3 online at They may log each day or several days at once – it’s OK to submit the form several times. We recommend logging each day so you don’t miss the prize drawings!

Wear your favorite hat to school

Wednesday, March 1: Cozy Up With a Good Book!
Wear your pajamas to school

Thursday, March 2: Throwback Thursday!
Wear a Groovy outfit from the past

Friday, March 3: School Spirit Day!  
Show Indy some love by wearing your purple

Donate Books

There will be book donation boxes throughout the school during Read-A-Thon to support Head Start.

Drawings and Prizes

The PTO will draw names of participants on Feb. 23, March 1 and March 3 for the prizes listed on the poster. Students should make sure they’ve entered their minutes by these dates.
