About Indianola Informal
Indianola Informal is a K-8 public school located in Columbus, Ohio. Our school is a lottery school and part of the Columbus City Schools. We offer a unique informal program in which teachers plan integrated units using Columbus City Schools’ curriculum and children’s interests to build authentic learning experiences.
About the Friends of Indianola PTO
Friends of Indianola PTO is a volunteer organization made up of families, teachers and staff of our school. Our mission is to support the education of the children at Indianola Informal K-8 by fostering relationships among the school, parents, and teachers. Through donations and fundraising efforts, we are also able to enhance educational opportunities for our students and provide our school with support for materials and enrichment not otherwise included in the school budget.
Our Accomplishments
In 2020-2021 the PTO raised over $14,000 and had expenditures of just over $9,000. This money came from various fundraisers and donations including the Virtual Carnival & Silent Auction, Read-A-Thon, Kroger Community Rewards, Box Tops for Education, Amazon Smile, Facebook Fundraisers and other funds accumulated over the past few years. In the past the PTO has been able to provide ChromeBooks for multiple grade levels, chess club for grades 2-8, OSU theater performances, creation of a school song with the Dick and Jane Project, field trips, and teacher appreciation activities, to name just a few.
Our History
Indianola Informal has a rich history dating back to 1975 with the opening of a new school dedicated to informal education. Check out the video below to learn more about the history of our school.
